ImOn Communications set new company growth records in 2025, completing its 100% fiber Internet network in nine communities while giving back more than half a million dollars in charitable donations and community support across its service areas.
The 2025 expansion efforts included laying 532 miles (2.8 million linear feet) of fiber infrastructure in both new and existing service areas, marking ImOn’s largest expansion to date and doubling its 2024 buildout of 265 miles.
This expansion extended fiber Internet service across 17 communities and represented an investment in excess of $100 million. More than half of that investment was concentrated in Southeast Iowa, where ImOn started and completed fiber networks in West Burlington, Burlington, Fort Madison, Mount Pleasant, and Keokuk.
This continued investment reinforces ImOn’s commitment to delivering next-generation connectivity across the Midwest.
ImOn also acquired Danville Telecom, a fiber-optic telecommunications and broadband provider serving Southeast Iowa since 1901. The Danville office now serves as ImOn’s primary hub in the region.
ImOn completed four additional expansion projects that began construction in 2024, including Marshalltown, Clinton, and Camanche, Iowa, as well as South Sioux City, Nebraska.
The remainder of ImOn’s footprint growth came from pocket builds—smaller construction projects focused on targeted neighborhoods within existing service areas, including the Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Dubuque metro areas.
“Every year, we set ambitious growth goals—and every year, our team exceeds them in remarkable ways,” said ImOn President and CEO Patrice Carroll. “But this work is about more than miles of fiber in the ground. It’s about building future-ready infrastructure that grows with our customers, keeping them connected to what matters most—today and for decades to come. That’s what drives us: creating better connections, one person at a time.”
ImOn will continue its fiber Internet expansion in 2026, with projects planned in Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin.
Fiber construction is also underway in ImOn’s hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as the company replaces its legacy hybrid fiber-coaxial network with a 100% fiber-to-the-home network. This upgrade will enable speeds up to 2 Gbps—more than six times faster than the current network—while delivering enhanced reliability and performance.
In addition to expanding its network footprint, ImOn invested $540,000 back into its communities in 2025, supporting nearly 200 nonprofit organizations and community programs. The company focuses on four giving pillars: arts and culture, children and education, economic development, and social services.
“Being part of the communities we serve means more than providing Internet service,” said ImOn President and CEO Patrice Carroll. “We strive to make a meaningful impact beyond our services, and we are proud to have contributed more than half a million dollars to nonprofit organizations, community programs, and giving initiatives last year. We look forward to becoming active members in Duluth and Superior in 2026.”
