ImOn Communications has designated Fort Madison, Iowa, a Fiber-Connected Community following the completion of ImOn’s 100% fiber Internet network in town.
The network connects ImOn’s fiber-to-the-premises service to more than 5,500 addresses, delivering speeds up to 1 Gbps for homes and 10 Gbps for businesses. This is the first time fiber Internet has been widely available in the Fort Madison community.
“Small- to mid-size towns like Fort Madison are often overlooked by larger fiber Internet companies—but they need the same access to modern Internet technology that homes and businesses in larger communities do,” said ImOn President and CEO Patrice Carroll. “We are proud to introduce that modern Internet service to the Fort Madison community and ensure they have the fiber Internet infrastructure they need to keep up with life’s digital demands, today and tomorrow.”
ImOn expanded its growing fiber network to the Southeast Iowa region early last year in partnership with Fort Madison city leaders. Construction began in Fort Madison in April 2025, with the first customer receiving service in July.
Though construction is complete, future ‘pocket builds’— smaller construction projects that deliver service to new developments — are possible to keep the network current with any community changes.
ImOn Communications also provides fiber Internet services to Mount Pleasant, Keokuk, Burlington, West Burlington, and Danville. Aside from Southeast Iowa, ImOn Communications’ network also serves the Cedar Rapids metro, Iowa City metro, Dubuque metro, Sioux City metro (Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota), Marshalltown, and the Clinton metro.
